About Me

My photo
Thrukon is a 2500 mile sub-arctic glacial survey on two motorcycles through sections of British Columbia, Yukon Territory and Alaska. The survey team hopes to observe and document important glaciers along the route north, while attempting to capture the spirit of exploration. The general approach for the trip will be part travel documentary and part research survey, which will involve riding motorcycles equipped with the necessary gear for field research, camping and video/photo documentation; as well as limited spares for any unforeseen events. This blog is the repository for all of the information gathered in preparation for and during the journey.

The DMV

It's getting better... But it still sucks!

There is something novel about the attitudes of the clerks behind the desks. It's like when you go to a modern day classic diner, and there is that one middle aged waitress who you hope serves you because you find her rude, gum chomping, aloof demeanor somewhat entertaining. Maybe the DMV hires old burnt-out diner waitresses to train their employees on customer service, either that, or everyone who works there just hates their lives tremendously.

And in keeping tradition alive, as I was the next person in line to have my picture taken, the whole system crashed and needed a reboot. Just like the last time I was there.

So my recommendation is... Steer clear.
