About Me

Thrukon is a 2500 mile sub-arctic glacial survey on two motorcycles through sections of British Columbia, Yukon Territory and Alaska. The survey team hopes to observe and document important glaciers along the route north, while attempting to capture the spirit of exploration. The general approach for the trip will be part travel documentary and part research survey, which will involve riding motorcycles equipped with the necessary gear for field research, camping and video/photo documentation; as well as limited spares for any unforeseen events. This blog is the repository for all of the information gathered in preparation for and during the journey.

The Elusive DL-389

It has been damn near a month and I am still waiting for the DL-389 from the motorcycle class to arrive in the mail. I finally heard back from the home office via email and apparently the cert they sent out on December 14th was returned to them “undeliverable”!

So that explains the ridiculous delay. However, it is still unclear what the issue was with the address.

One of the options they offered was for me to write a letter requesting cancellation of the first DL-389 so that the office can issue me another DL-389, and then send that one in the mail with the hope that it will be delivered.

Ultimately we decided that I would drive out to one of their training ranges and pick up the DL-389 in person from the site instructor.
