About Me

Thrukon is a 2500 mile sub-arctic glacial survey on two motorcycles through sections of British Columbia, Yukon Territory and Alaska. The survey team hopes to observe and document important glaciers along the route north, while attempting to capture the spirit of exploration. The general approach for the trip will be part travel documentary and part research survey, which will involve riding motorcycles equipped with the necessary gear for field research, camping and video/photo documentation; as well as limited spares for any unforeseen events. This blog is the repository for all of the information gathered in preparation for and during the journey.

Nazareth

A borough in Northhampton County, Pennsylvania. Settled by protestant Germans in the 18th century, famous for the Andretti's, Martin guitars and cement manufacturing.

So why Nazareth? We'll get to that in a moment.

After considering the options I've decided on the BMW F800GS in alpine white. Basically the bike pictured in the Jan. 24th post, but with a few additions. The 800 just makes the most sense. The order was placed so now it's a waiting game, which brings us to Nazareth.

We were recently informed that the F800 GS is sealed up in a crate, just sitting in the BMW Northeast distribution warehouse pictured above. They're waiting on the bill of laden to be processed so it can be shipped. It arrived into port through New Jersey, and was sent to PA to be routed for delivery.

If all goes well, it should be here in a few days...
