About Me

Thrukon is a 2500 mile sub-arctic glacial survey on two motorcycles through sections of British Columbia, Yukon Territory and Alaska. The survey team hopes to observe and document important glaciers along the route north, while attempting to capture the spirit of exploration. The general approach for the trip will be part travel documentary and part research survey, which will involve riding motorcycles equipped with the necessary gear for field research, camping and video/photo documentation; as well as limited spares for any unforeseen events. This blog is the repository for all of the information gathered in preparation for and during the journey.

Delivered

The motorcycle has arrived. Once unboxed I found that it had only had 1 mile on the odometer, which is what the factory puts on it for the system check. Over the months to come we to throw some kit on and get the bike broken in with some local road/dirt miles in preparation for the journey up to Anchorage.

It is essentially stock as seen below with heated grips and ABS. A few factory upgrades were ordered such as an on board computer, center stand, pannier mounts, ESA II (electronic suspension), Enduro ASC and the comfort seat, which has a mini lumbar support and more contour than the standard flat seat.

Still need to fit a few more bits and run some ride tests, but I feel like we are getting closer to the reality of this trip.

I christen thee - Alpine Whip
